The Gambia

I bet you’ve never heard of it before. I hadn’t either until I received my Peace Corps invitation telling me this was the place I was destined to spend my next two years. It’s the smallest country in Africa, on the primarily francophone Western Region, almost completely landlocked by Senegal. Its people are primarily muslim and span almost a dozen ethnic groups and languages, and it’s filled with mangoes and peanuts galore, friendly people, lively music, beautiful tradition and dynamic culture.
